Peter P. Fenton has represented management in labor relations matters for over thirty-five years. Peter’s extensive experience includes representing unionized employers in labor negotiations and union organizing campaigns as well as advising them on interpreting and applying collective bargaining agreements. Peter appears on behalf of his clients in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board and State Retirement/Disability Boards. He also represents employers at arbitration in matters involving contract interpretation and employee discipline or discharge. In addition, Peter advises non-union clients on developing the best practices for maintaining a union free workplace. Throughout his career, Peter has participated in hundreds of trials and arbitrations.
Peter received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Providence College in 1974, a certificate in Executive Development from Indiana University in 1976 and his Juris Doctorate from Western New England College School of Law in 1980. For over 20 years, Peter represented the City of Springfield in its labor relations matters, first as a Labor Relations Attorney where he negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements and then as City Solicitor where he negotiated and oversaw the labor contracts for all of the city’s departments.
Peter has addressed a wide varitey of associations and organizations on topics such as the Employee Free Choice Act, workplace issues and proactive managing in a unionized environment. Peter has many years of involvement in a myraid of community activities. He was an assistant varsity hockey coach at Cathedral High School and has taught a variety of legal courses at area colleges. Peter is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts in Massachusetts.
