Ricardo Aponte-Parsi is an attorney in private practice and a Business and Government Affairs consultant in the U.S. Territory of Puerto Rico. He obtained a B.A. from Syracuse University (1991) with a major in International Relations and his J.D. from the Inter American University School of Law of Puerto Rico (2000). He served for two years as Assistant for Federal Affairs to the President of the State Senate of Puerto Rico (1997-1999), the Honorable Charles A. Rodriguez.
In May 2014 he completed an LL.M. degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a Certificate in Business Administration from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain.
He served two terms as Vice President of Sections and Committees for the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA). From 2002 to 2008 served as the HNBA Regional President for Puerto Rico and the USVI and was the Co-Chair of the 2007 HNBA Convention Committee. He is the Immediate Past President of the Interamerican Association of Businesspeople (AIHE for its Spanish acronym).
He served as Secretary of the Board and Chair of the Federal Affairs Committee of the Chamber of Commerce of PR during 2012-13.
In 2010 he was appointed by Governor Luis Fortuño to serve for a six year term as President of the Governing Board of the PR Education Council, the government regulatory that licenses and approves all educational institutions in PR, a position in which he served until June 2014,
Since 2012 he is a member of the Puerto Rico Harbor Pilotage Commission, the entity that licenses, fixes rates and oversees the rendering of pilotage services in all ports around the Island. In addition, he is a member of a number of other professional and civic organizations such as the American Association of Grant Professionals (AAGP), the American Association of Political Consultants, and the American Bar Association (ABA). He and his wife Waleska Rodriguez (LND/MHSN/PMP) are the proud parents of a daughter named Monica.
