Biography
I 'm a lawyer, journalist and provocateur. I'm a Fellow at CodeX: The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, where am the principal blogger.
I also am a freelance journalist for Bloomberg BNA Big Law Business; a columnist at Above The Law; and co-host of Law Technology Now (Legal Talk Network). I am a member of the California bar.
In 2015, I retired from ALM where I was Editor-in-Chief of Law Technology News for 17 years, and was a senior editor at The Recorder in San Francisco for 13 years.
My current work focuses on legal technology and how it is changing the practice of law and improving access to justice for all, from the rich to the poor, worldwide. I also write about diversity in the legal profession and have been known to write about baseball (NYY).
