Edward E. Knauss IV

Mr. Knauss graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts, with honors, in 1971 and from Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University with a Juris Doctorate in 1974. He was admitted to practice in Pennsylvania in 1974. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals.

Mr. Knauss joined the law firm of Metzger, Wickersham, Knauss & Erb, P.C. in 1974. In his early years at Metzger Wickersham, Mr. Knauss was mentored by his father, Edward E. Knauss, III, who was previously an attorney with the firm.

Mr. Knauss presently concentrates his practice in plaintiff’s personal injury and workers’ compensation law.

He is board-certified as a specialist in civil trial law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, the accrediting agency approved by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. This certification is reserved for attorneys who have demonstrated high standards of competence, experience and integrity in civil trial work.

Mr. Knauss is also certified as a specialist in the practice of workers’ compensation law by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Section on Workers’ Compensation Law as authorized by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. He therefore holds the rare distinction among attorneys in Pennsylvania of being certified in both workers’ compensation and civil trial law.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (Civil Litigation and Workers’ Compensation Law Sections). He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization in which membership is “limited to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award or settlement in the amount of one million dollars or more.”

Mr. Knauss was born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he resides with his wife, Debbie. He has 3 children, and 3 grandsons. Mr. Knauss is most commonly called by his nickname, “Ted.”
