As anyone will tell you when you get a public defender you should always hold your breath. I wish I could have been given a more caring,sympathetic and attentive attorney or had $4000 to piss away on a real lawyer. I will admit that 5yrs ago I received a DUI I didn't handle and it has come back to ...haunt me, but Public Defenders such as mine are sooo busy with case after case that you will barely get any personal attention. I am a middle class guy w/ a ok job and not some idiot that hurt someone being stupid and negligible. In a nut shell you're just a case# with no life, family or work issues to attend and if you're not carefull you will be filed away quickly into a back room cabinet so that the P/D & State can move on to the next case. As I describe my Attorney I am not trying to be hostile or insulting like it states not to be on this site, I am giving you my experience w/ her. If you like to be talked over and down to Rebecca Potter is your P/D. There where numerous times just because of her mood she told me to be quite & just listen. She makes you feel stupid for being in your situation and you will only get results when you push and get into her a bit. Remember, she is not the one going to tent city or jail, you're. Bottom line if you get her or anyone make sure she takes the time to represent and really review your case ( She is always under some type of appointment deadlines so you're rushed to ask questions) and explain all the facts of your case. I didn't know about the costs of work furlough until I spoke w/ adult probation's and now I am second guessing my plea deal. What this all comes down to is the Public Defenders have to many case loads to be 100% devoted to you, they deal with the same garbage week after week and you're no different than anyone else that walks into there office.
