Olympia Consumer Law Principal and Founder Selina A. Davis is passionate about consumer justice. That passion, plus her unique combination of experience and expertise in the fields of law, economics, consumer protection, and public affairs make her unusually qualified to be an exceptional advocate for you and your family.
A Northwest native, Ms. Davis grew up primarily in Idaho and Washington, with the longest periods in rural Kamiah, Idaho (a logging town on the Nez Perce Reservation) and in Seattle's Central District (pre-gentrification.) She spent much of her youth in poverty, moving frequently and experiencing the uncertainty, stress, disruption, creditor harassment, and even recurring homelessness that can happen to families in financial distress.
Because of these experiences, Ms. Davis offers sensitivity, genuine empathy, and a dogged determination to get just results for her clients. She is driven to ensure that all consumers are treated with dignity. Her clients can expect to feel respected, heard, and supported in determining what legal goals are both consistent with their values and in their families’ best economic interests, and vigorously represented in pursuing those goals.
Ms. Davis graduated from Garfield High School in Seattle with a National Merit Scholarship and the University of Redlands with a BA in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa. She was a Research Intern at the National Economic Council at the White House, then spent two years on appointment as a Teaching Assistant and Economics graduate student at Washington State University. Ms. Davis earned her law degree at the University of Washington, where she participated in and helped lead a variety of professional organizations and served as a commencement speaker.
Over the years, Ms. Davis has spent numerous years in various roles in politics, government, and public affairs. She has served in all three branches of the federal government, externed with the Federal Trade Commission’s Consumer Protection Division in Seattle, served in numerous volunteer leadership positions, worked under three judges, and provided a few hundred families with free civil legal services at Idaho Legal Aid Services, primarily in housing, consumer, tribal court, and disability cases.
While at Legal Aid, Ms. Davis noticed the rapidly-growing need for bankruptcy and debt collection defense attorneys. She decided to create a business model for a small private law firm that could provide such services efficiently and affordably, while partnering with larger consumer litigation firms when good cases for affirmative litigation arise. Olympia Consumer Law is the result of those research and development efforts.
Ms. Davis is licensed to practice law in Washington, Idaho (currently inactive), before the US District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts in Western Washington and Idaho, and before the Nez Perce Tribal Court. In her personal time, she enjoys games and adventures with her young daughter, singing R&B and gospel, being an active citizen, reading non-fiction, marginal attempts at comedy writing, participating in her church, and hiking.
