Justin Thomas Darrow

Justin Darrow is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in patent law and research. His practice covers patent preparation and prosecution, ex parte appeals, reissue and reexamination, client counseling, freedom-to-operate and invalidity opinions, and litigation support. He has worked across a wide range of technologies, including computer security and cryptography, artificial intelligence and machine learning, wireless and optical communications, semiconductors, and medical devices. Before patent law, Justin conducted research in laser systems, working on high-speed device characterization, terahertz radiation, radar, mid-infrared countermeasures, turbidity-reducing marine imaging, and 3D printing.

In government service, Justin was a patent attorney at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board involved in deciding ex parte appeals in all electrical technologies. He was also a primary patent examiner in computer security and cryptography at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. There, he served in career details at the Office of the Solicitor, the Central Reexamination Unit, and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.

Before joining Alliance IP, Justin practiced at a patent boutique with startup clients in cutting-edge technologies, including operational technology cybersecurity and sub-pixel image processing.
