Biography
Michael K. Smeltzer practices in our Corporate and Business Law, Environmental and Real Estate and Land Use sections. The Abingdon native was a founding member of the Roanoke firm Smeltzer & Hart, which later merged with the Hazlegrove Law Firm to become Hazlegrove, Dickinson, Rea, Smeltzer & Brown. In 1985, the Hazlegrove firm merged with Woods Rogers.
After graduating from Virginia Military Institute, Mike was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army infantry. He later became a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, obtaining the rank of Captain. He attended the School of Law at Washington and Lee University.
He is consistently listed in Best Lawyers in America.
