Suspension followed by probation issued in IL, 2004

updated on 07/11/2016

This type of suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. When the attorney returns to practice the State monitors the his or her activities for a period of time.

Gerald’s comment:

“3-month reciprocal suspension ended in January 2005 but remains unresolved due to refusal to pay $5,000 in Arizona disciplinary costs BUT I remain a member in good standing of the general and trial bars of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (as well as other U.S. courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court) and am routinely admitted to appear pro hac vice in cases pending, or to be filed, in other federal districts.”

Suspension issued in AZ, 2001

updated on 06/04/2018

Suspension means an attorney lost his or her license to practice law for a period of time. The attorney typically returns to practicing law when the suspension expires.

Gerald’s comment:

“6-month suspension ended in September 2001 but I declined to reinstate in Arizona, in part because I was retired, and in part because any resumed practice would exclusively be federal. See In re North, 383 F.3d 871 (9th Cir. 2004). I remain a member in good standing of the Iowa bar (inactive), the bars of the U.S.Supreme Court and the Courts of Appeals for the Ninth and the Federal Circuits, and the general and trial bars of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.”
