Amber helped me reach the best possible outcome during a child relocation trial. Amber's strengths include careful listening to her clients and excellent preparation. I felt that she cared very much about my situation and would do everything in her power to help. She is timely and accurate with all communication with clients and the court. In my first meeting with Amber I was impressed with her knowledge of family law and how it applied specifically for my case. I had the unfortunate situation of needing to prepare for a trial. Amber's preparation for this event was so professional and thorough that the trial was averted and a settlement reached, saving much time and money. Amber is a great attorney that happens to also be a great person. You will truly be glad to work with her!

    • Amber handled my Divorce / Separation matter.

When my wife’s violence turned from verbal to physical, I had to contain the situation, and Atty. Amber Channell was assigned to my case. She had the flexibility to handle both collaborative and adversarial cases. She is very astute, quick to respond to arguments and can assess the situation with minimal information. Not only then did I feel I was in good hands, but we made a good client-advocate team with our compatible background knowledge and similar train of thought. This was the ideal advocate relationship I wanted.

What complicated the case was the adversarial approach of the opposing party in demanding the highest settlement. I would caution anyone in assuming opposing counsel’s integrity and get everything documented and cross-checked before presenting papers, especially when it comes to the involuntary servitude of spousal maintenance. Cash flow is everything in a legal case. Opposing counsel’s validation of the consistency and credibility of his client’s testimony was rather unscrupulous and he was also non-compliant with the Case Management Schedule. In contrast, throughout the entire litigation process, Amber was very thorough and validated the consistency and credibility of my testimony and documentary evidence.

Amber played devil’s advocate in every situation. She upheld the truth, and was impartial in her judgment. She was also a stickler for complying with the Case Management Schedule imposed by the Superior Court. This required much timely work on my part to assemble the necessary and voluminous documentary evidence that marriage dissolution cases are so dependent on. I hardly had any rest through this entire Cause, but this schedule compliance became a competitive advantage, and the quality of documentation was essential to argue a very convincing case.

In contrast, opposing counsel relied on oral testimony, time-consuming dramatization in court with little probative value, and submitted very scant and questionable documents. Opposing counsel relied on non-responsiveness to drag this case to trial. Amber always kept her cool amidst the ridiculous challenges we met through this Cause. In spite of her case load with the inevitable emergency situations in family law, she managed to be very responsive to my needs.

When Trial was inevitable by non-response default, Amber assessed my financial condition and my ability to pursue this Cause. This was a very difficult decision, and Amber was very encouraging, even talking herself out of a job. She determined that in less than sixty (60) days, I would be able to gain enough knowledge to represent myself effectively. With Amber’s guidance and the deep knowledge of the Cause that she internalized, she effectively helped me prepare for Trial and be able to address the many situations that go wrong. Amber did mention that I was brilliant in learning this big body of knowledge in an extremely compressed time frame and the legal work I produced was better than what she has seen from most attorneys. I owe this to her guidance. I feel that I can now navigate through the legal system in representing myself.

Throughout Amber’s advocacy and counseling, she embodied my conviction “to dissolve the marriage with dignity, and the prudent stewardship of community resources for the good of the community.” She had the integrity to uphold these and the principles she espoused as a legal advocate. I greatly appreciate that in her and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone. That is the greatest favor I can offer in a field of practice where repeat business is not the norm, with the exception of Hollywood.

Amber was everything we could ask for and more in a lawyer! she was professional personable and knowledgeable not to mention honest, and had answers right from the start I had seen 3 other lawyers prior and never did they make me feel the way Amber did from the minute I walked into her office. Amber never sugar coated anything and always gave me the straight answer weather it was what I wanted to hear or not. As well as keeping me level headed and easing my mind every call or interaction I had with her.Ambers knowledge and commitment was above and beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I have sent 3 friends her way and will continue to send more. Amber helped make a very difficult time in my life easier and not to mention fought the best fight and won the case! Amber has changed mine and my sons life and there are really not enough words to show my gratitude and love for this woman!

    • I do not recommend Amber Austin.
    • I hired Amber more than 3 years ago.
    • Amber handled my Child Custody matter.
    • I have previously worked with 1-2 lawyers.

Our case was to retain custody of a step child and be free to move about the country. This attorney failed to achieve the objective for which she was hired, failed to sustain objections and pursue any line of questioning that was relevant to shedding positive light on our arguement, failed to appear in any manner of professional attire. On top of this, she failed to show any personable skills in handling the failure of this case and is misrepresentative of the firm ethos that she works for, Felicia Malsby.

      Lawyer Comment:

While I support that this forum should be for all types feedback, I do not believe this comment is accurate/fair. This comment was not posted by a former client, bur rather a non-party relative of a former client. I understand the great loss that occurs when a case does not go in a client's favor, however, in a trial only one party can prevail. In trial the facts are presented to an impartial/unrelated trier of fact to determine the best outcome. Unfortunately, hiring an attorney is not a guarantee that your desired outcome will the the outcome that a Judge believes is the most appropriate.

Moreover, if I fail to "appear in any manner of professional attire" any Judge/Commissioner would certainly correct this behavior, and nothing of the sort has never been an issue.

While losing a case is costly and very disappointing, it does not follow that the attorney is unprofessional or is not knowledgeable. I take the concerns of my client's very seriously and I am honored to get to practice in this profession, with families in my community, which I believe is reinforced through my comments above.

    • I have previously worked with 3-5 lawyers.

When the reality of needing to get a divorce finally sunk in, I was dismayed at having to begin the legal process. A friend suggested the Law Office of Felicia A. Malsby, P.S.

My spouse and I met with Ms. Channell for an overview of the proposed legal requirements. I was pleased with her calm, clear explanation of the process, and the options available for us. In addition, her attitude was one of respect for our fragile relationship, and she encouraged a reasonable and fair interaction between my husband and I.

Since my husband and I are on Social Security and not well-off, Amber allowed me to participate in the preparation of most of the documents, with her guidance and oversight, and this enabled me to reduce the cost of the process.

I highly recommend Ms. Channell for her knowledge, experience and character, but mostly because she made me feel that my best interests were her major concern.
