Kimberley Rae Sonderman

Kym Sonderman’s background in insurance claims and the corporate setting means she is well prepared to address her client’s needs with keen business savvy, a flair for coverage analysis and an eye for detail. Her practice encompasses all areas of personal and commercial lines property and casualty coverage, including first and third party coverage, duty to defend, extra contractual claims/bad faith, additional insured issues, and umbrella/excess coverage. She also has significant experience in construction defect matters.

Ms. Sonderman began her career as a property and casualty adjuster for a major insurance carrier right her in the Pacific Northwest. She soon moved to California where she negotiated, settled and/or directed the defense of hundreds of personal and commercial claims. She moved quickly into roles involving claims quality review, the development and implementation of claims training, and claims management. During that time, she obtained her law degree and was subsequently charged with developing successful strategies to defend or resolve suits against the insurer. She also received her CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters) designation, and is a current member and officer of the CPCU Society Pacific Northwest Chapter.

Sonderman returned to Washington as an attorney for the insurer’s claims department where, for twelve years, she provided personal and commercial lines coverage, claims handling and compliance advice.
