Jenifer is one of the best! We hired her to represent our son who was 17 at the time and charged with an MIP. With her creative expertise in this type of law, she was able to get our son's charge dismissed. It was a process of meetings with my son where she would make sure he understood each step in this legal process and become educated on his rights and potential consequences. It wasn't just about getting the charges dismissed, it was also about him becoming educated too!

Jenifer helped me with a rather difficult family related case and she SO took care of everything. She was very respectful and understanding and knew exactly how to calm my fears. She's personable and fun to talk to. She made a lasting impression upon me! I would HIGHLY recommend her!

Jenifer was wonderful to work with. She was straightforward and told us all possibilities. Her response time was quick. Jenifer pulls no punches she does what she says she'll do. I would highly recommend Howson Law Firm. Thanks Jenifer for working so hard for us!

Of course there are times when it is vital to be represented by a capable lawyer. Hopefully these times are few. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have had Jenifer Howson referred to me through another attorney.Â
When shopping for legal aid, the first thing you want to find is a lawyer who is thoroughly experienced with your charge and understands your rights as they pertain to your particular case. Jenifer has over twenty years expertise in handling DUI's and other serious traffic violations.Â
The second thing you want to find is a lawyer who has intimate knowledge of the court where your case will be addressed, and who is on very familiar terms with its judges and prosecutors. Jenifer practices in Skagit County in general, and Mt. Vernon and Anacortes in particular.Â
The third thing you want to look for is a lawyer who has excellent reviews, from both past clients and other lawyers and professionals. Jenifer has an impeccable reputation for fighting for her clients and securing for them the best possible outcomes. Her reviews are outstanding.
I never buy a thing without first reading the reviews.Â
Jenifer arrived early on the morning of my court date. She was actually the first attorney to show up, and immediately informed me that everything was fine. She was a consummate professional, and together we went over exactly what was going to happen, and what I was to expect.Â
Ms. Howson came through for me in every way. Her reviews are accurate and true. Now I am happy and relieved to add my own to her list. I can not thank her enough for what she did for me, and how she handled my case, and I was very worried. I trusted her and she delivered. Period.Â

PROFESSIONAL & AGGRESSIVE
When faced with needing an attorney, Howson Law Office was recommended to me because of their outstanding reputation. Jenifer is very professional, appeared at every court hearing and definitely exceeded her reputation! Jenifer & Roy Howson work as a team. They fought hard and won both motions to suppress evidence. Due to this victory, I did not lose my license. Jenifer is very aggressive and fights hard with strong negotiations with the court and Department of Licensing. Jenifer goes the extra mile to see everything through from start to finish. She cares about her clients and it shows. I have and will continue to recommend her to anyone that needs an attorney. THANKS JENIFER! (B.C.-DUI Client 2011)

Jenifer and her very competent staff helped us achieve quick resolution to our legal case and made what could have been a very traumatic and nerve-wracking experience much more bearable.

Before contacting Jenifer, I had spoken with several attorneys. They were all willing to take my money for their retainer fee, but they seemed to only want to negotiate a quick plea bargain instead of listening to my side of the story, believing in me, and taking the bull by the horns and challenging the prosecutor to the end -- LIKE JENIFER DID!!! Jenifer always kept me informed, sometimes more than I wanted to know, letting me know what my odds were even when they weren't in my favor. My case involved numerous hearings, both prior and post acquittal (jury found me NOT guilty). Jenifer fought my case to the end, she never let me down, and was willing to put up a hard fight even when things were looking pretty dismal. With Jenifer's persistence and experience, we prevailed. The Howson Law Office is the first number that I would call if ever in need for a great criminal defense attorney. Because of Jenifer, I am able to pursue opportunities now, which could not exist if I didn't have the respresentation and outcome that I got as a result of retaining Jenifer.

Jenifer Howson is an extremely knowledgeable attorney. She went out of her way to minimize my legal issues. She always promptly returned my phone calls and/or called me to keep me posted on all my legal issues. She also takes payments unlike most attorneys which is awesome, and a big help, especially for those of us who have other fines to pay as well. She has a very powerful presence 'in' and 'out' of the courtroom. I had 2 DUI's, a malicious mischief and a domestic Violence charge all within 6 weeks. Jenfier Howson was able to help relieve me of all charges with the exception of 1 DUI conviction, with only a little bit of step-work of my own. I would definitely recommend her to anyone and would use her again in the future if I ever have legal problems again.

My son was 2 months shy of 21st Birthday and was arrested for DUI. I felt he should hire a private attorney to represent him as his future was on the line. His breathalyzer was just over the legal limit for someone who is over 21. I contacted a friend who is a paralegal for a local attorney and ask for her recommendation and she did not have anyone. My son was at his first court appearance, went before the judge and his initial arraignment was scheduled for a week later. We head to the car when he realized that he had finals at school that day and would fail if he did not show. We went back into the court house but were not sure how to approach the judge and ask for a different day. Jenifer Howson was there on another case and I approached her and ask for her help. Jennifer was more than happy to help. She took his papers and gave them to the court clerk and my son was able to reschedule his arraignment. I thanked Jenifer for her help and ask for her number. My son called and made an appointment and hired her. I was so impressed with ALL Jenifer and her assistants had to offer. They were all so helpful in understanding what to expect and where things stood. Jenifer was able to have his hearing at the Department of Licensing dismissed, the Breathalyzer suppressed and the charges were reduced to negligent driving. When I had questions and would call, Jennifer would answer her calls personally if she was available. When she was not Gail or Chare (Jenifer’s assistants) were always there to answer questions or take information needed on the case. Jenifer Howson wants people to know what their rights are and when they have been violated (even when you have a lapse in judgment) she will be kind, honest, generous respectful and will make all the difference in your case. THANK YOU JENIFER HOWSON FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND.

I was faced in a very unfortunate situation, facing public embarrassment and charges that I did not deserve. I am not from this area and did not know who to turn to for help. I was very impressed with Jenifer's knowledge, experience, professionalism and customer service. Although the challenge of my case was not easy, Jenifer did not hesitate to represent me. Jenifer and her staff were always honest and up-front with every step of the way, plus they did an abundance of research and investigation for trial. Jenifer Howson is worth every cent!

I had a very positive experience with Jenifer, stemming from a not-so-positive incident. She patiently informed me of all the issues involved in my case and thoroughly answered my questions. She was comfortable and confident in court appearances which put me at ease. I feel she is extremely knowledgeable and competent in her field and I will recommend her to friends in need.

I was a "first-timer" in trouble, scared to death and didn't know what to do or where to turn. I was wary of lawyers in general but knew I had to have professional help. I found Jenifer's ad in the phone book and took the plunge. From the moment I met her I knew it was the right decision. She was up front with me, telling me that this was not her usual type of case and that she wasn't sure if she wanted to take it as these types of cases tend to be very emotional and can get really nasty. I have a dog boarding/doggie daycare and doggie camp. It is a "no kennel" style operation on our property and the dogs get to be part of our family while they're here. I also do rescue of abused and abandoned giant, purebred, working breeds - Rottweilers, Malemutes, etc., as well as doing Hospice for some of my clients older dogs. However, we talked and I told her everything I could remember about this situation and the person who had brought the charges against me. By the end of the discussion she told me that if she could find a place in her schedule she would take my case and if not, she'd find someone who could - a lawyer who was familiar with this sort of case and who was "good" at what he/she does. She told me to contact my clients and ask for letters in my behalf and in the meantime, she would see if she could talk with the Prosecuter and get a copy of the police report and see exactly what was being said by the woman who had made the accusations against me. In our next meeting I came armed with 25 letters from clients, which she read through and gave me a copy of the police report to read and comment on. I was close to tears after reading the report. Through it all Jenifer and her paralegal, Gale, were supportive, compansionate and kind. Jenifer decided to go for "dismissal" and "if they decide to go to trial, I'll win anyway". I knew then that my lawyer was not only good at what she does but she actually "cares" about her clients. During the course of the next months, Jenifer received a phone call from a prosecuter in a neighboring county (who just happened to be a client of mine too). She offerred her complete suupport and said she'd make phone calls and write letters and do whatever was needed in my behalf. ( I had not asked for her support as I didn't know she was working in Island County now but thought she was still working in my county and didn't want to cause her problems.) I think that phone call was when Jenifer decided she would take no prisoners. It took months of delay and resceduling court appearances to give the woman making the charges time to "cool off". She wouldn't back off, however, and was making almost daily calls to the prosecuter's office, being her usual relentless self. Finally, after almost 11 months of sleepless nights, inability to concentrate (on my part) and worry, worry, worry - we made it court and DISMISSAL was acheived. I nearly broke down in court but managed to get outside in the hallway before the tears came. Jenifer was the only thing I had going for me. Thank God I found her. I learned a valuable lesson. ALWAYS listen to that "still, small voice" that tells me not to deal with a person who gives me that unsettling feeling, but send them away - nicely, but do NOT do business with anyone I get uneasy feelings about. I hope I never have a need for a lawyer again, but if for some reason I do, i.e., estate or transfer of property, I hope Jenifer will take me again under her wing. I completely trust her judgement and her expertise. She is an ethical, caring human being - a great example of what a lawyer should be.
