With deep roots as a trial attorney and civil litigator, I began my legal career as a prosecutor. I worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Snohomish County Prosecutor’s Office for six years before entering into private practice. This experience allows me to bring a unique perspective to my clients' legal matters and to provide advocacy that is grounded in experience and in a deep understanding of the legal system.
I joined Brewe Layman in 2001, maintaining my practice as a civil litigator with an emphasis in the area of family law and personal injury. I also practice in the area of appellate law and criminal law. In addition to significant trial experience, I am also a seasoned mediator and arbitrator.
As a family law attorney,I assist clients in matters of all types, including high-conflict parenting cases involving allegations of sexual or physical assault; third-party custody cases; and cases involving complex property/business valuations.

I endorse this lawyer. Karen and I were on opposite sides of several cases when she worked at the county prosecutors' office. I was impressed by her passion for her work, and her unusually sharp grasp of the law as it applied in our cases. She has worked in almost every major area of the law then and since. I am surprised she has not been appointed to be a judge yet, as she has such a depth of legal knowledge, and an unusual breadth of experience. I recommend her highly as an excellent choice to represent clients in her Family Law practice and to help them through the myriad of issues that arise in that field.

Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter
I am a criminal defense attorney, and my clients often need a good family law attorney. Frankly, it was difficult to refer my clients to an effective and well-respected family law attorney in Snohomish County - there didn't seem to be any. That is, until someone told me about Karen Moore. For the last couple of years, I've referred all of my clients to her, and they have had nothing but great things to say about Karen's work. I don't know her personally, but she will continue to get referrals from me.
