    Client - a Buddhist temple, was classified under federal tax law as a non-profit organization but NOT a religious organization. This status prevented the temple from sponsoring a monk for a religious visa under immigration law. We sucessfully petitioned the IRS for a revised determination of their status after filing 50 pages of evidence.

If the alien does not file an I-751 to remove the conditions in the 90 day period prior to expiration they will be out of status and could be put into removal proceedings.This client had come to me after failing to file to remove conditions even several months after the card had expired. We presented a strong case with a good faith explanation for the client's failure to remove conditions on time. The client will now receive lawful permanent resident status without conditions and can pursue U.S. Citizenship.

    Pro Bono case for youth who had entered unlawfully and was abandoned by her mother. She had lived without lawful immigration status in the U.S. for 12 years. I was able to have the County Juvenile Court Declare her a Dependent of the State. With that order, we requested that USCIS grant her Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and then allow her to adjust her status to that of a Lawful Permanent Resident.
