    Description:
    Innocent victim of identity theft was wrongfully searched by Pierce County officials. Once it was uncovered that the County did this routinely, the case was amended to add class action claims. The Court ruled that Pierce County violated the Constitution. The County appealed and the Court of Appeals ruled that the County's actions violated state law; the appellate court did not decide the constitutional question. The class action case was settled and the County agreed to pay damages to Abra Plemmons and to other class members, as well as attorneys' fees under federal civil rights law.

    Description:
    Lonnie Wharf ruptured a tendon in his finger, when he tripped and fell on a tool lying by the railroad tracks. Lonnie Wharf's finger partially healed and he returned to work with the railroad. Fred Diamondstone tried the case and Lonnie received a $90,000 verdict. But the railroad then fired Lonnie, as the jury was deliberating. Mr. Diamondstone successfully handled the appeal and the Court of Appeals ruled that the railroad's misconduct deprived Lonnie of a fair trial. The case was later settled for much more money and Mr. Wharf is now enjoying his retirement.

    Description:
    Jim and his wife, Steve-Ann, were stopped in traffic when drunken passengers from a truck went to Jim's car and assaulted him. The driver of the truck then drove off, without the passengers. Jim's wife called 911 for help, as did 10 others. Police failed to arrive for 1-1/2 hours, as bystanders kept a lookout. Night fell. The assailants crept away in the dark. The police then showed up. Jim and Steve-Ann's lawsuit was dismissed. The WA Supreme Court gave Jim and his wife, Steve-Anne, a precedent setting legal victory. Finally, King County settled, rather than go to trial.

    Description:
    Said Aba Sheikh was 14 when he was beaten by four juvenile delinquents, two of whom were in foster care. He suffered very serious injuries. King County Probation left these delinquents on the streets, while they violated probation and parole and committed new crimes. Fred Diamondstone took the lead to prove the case against King County. King County paid 4.5 million to settle. The beating occured at a Shell station with a history of crimes. Shell Oil Company paid $300,000. The case went to trial against DSHS. The jury verdict of 8 million dollars was overturned in a heart-breaking decision by the WA Supreme Court, which ruled that DSHS's duty to control foster children does not extend to the general public.
