How many months back can one claim child support for when no order has been in place and divorce just starting child is 8

Asked by a user in Bellingham, WA - 11 months ago.

Agree with the last contributor, but in my experience the court won't go back prior to the date of filing of the dissolution absent some pretty horrid facts. Agree that you should see an attorney as even if the court ordered back you may get some credit for funds paid etc.

What could happen to me if my ex husband sues me for forcing him to sign divorce papers?

Asked by a user in Renton, WA - 11 months ago.

Good luck to him. Unless you blackmailed him, held a gun to his head, or something else that anyone would consider horrible behavior you are fine. You divorced him for a reason - I presume - and now it may be best to not have much if any contact with him if he is going to threaten you with nonsense. Take care

My step daughter was abused by her step father. I need help getting custody of my kids? What is the best way to go about it?

Asked by a user in Federal Way, WA - 11 months ago.

Unfortunately I don't know of any group that would assist you. Even if you were to get a pro bono attorney this case is likely to be more time consuming than an attorney is willing to take on for free. However it is imperative that you get an experienced family law attorney. Child custody cases like this are generally the most expensive types of cases. Depending upon your circumstances an attorney may be willing to take less up front if you have a good job, co-signer etc. Do whatever...

If father has tempoary full custody but allowed them to be around registered sex offender can mother ask for custody back?

Asked by a user in Seattle, WA - 11 months ago.

Hi, yes you have grounds to ask the court to address this situation and it sounds serious. A court could question the father's willingness or ability to protect the children. No court is going to think kindly of children being allowed to be around a registered sex offender. This does not mean that you will get the children, depending upon your circumstances. Sounds like you really need to get an attorney.

Restraining Order For Divorce

Asked by a user in Snohomish, WA - 9 months ago.

When you file you can move for temporary orders and request a RO as part of the dissolution process. Based on what you have indicated it should not be difficult to get the RO. It would probably be best if you had an attorney assist you though to ensure that you are protected and she can't interfere with your employment. Good luck to you.

I agree with Mr. Lewis. You have several serious issues that simple are too complex to answer on line. You need to seek the advice of an immigration attorney and family law attorney. Good luck

What can be done with an out of control child?

Asked by a user in Wenatchee, WA - 10 months ago.

First I would recommend getting her into a great child psychologist, but if that isn't working perhaps a Youth at Risk program? If she has been in juvenile detention her probation officer should be able to assist the family with resources. Living with any teenager can be difficult. I have parented three boys through their teen age years and we all lived through it, as most do, but it can be hell on earth at times. Your sister should know she is not alone, there are resources and the juvi...

How can I compel my ex-husband to make payments on community debt that was assigned to him in our divorce decree?

Asked by a user in Tacoma, WA - 10 months ago.

Hi, I recently finished a case just like what you have described. We moved the court for a finding of contempt and judgment as my client had paid all of the community debt that had been assigned to her ex husband in the dissolution decree. Since she had already paid them we received a judgment, interest and my fees. She had all of her money back, including my fees in a few months time. One critical factor will be if the debts have been paid. You may need to pay them and then seek to be...

Question regarding a custody case

Asked by a user in Olympia, WA - 10 months ago.

At this point in your journey if you want to have any chance of being involved with your daughter you need to hire an experienced family law attorney and come up with a long term plan to reunite with your daughter. An experienced attorney can get you on the right path and perhaps come up with alternatives that you could do to satisfy the courts that would not be as expensive. However, it sounds like you will have to work hard and come up with some funds to cover testing and treatment.

Can you get married with a no contact order?

Asked by a user in Federal Way, WA - 8 months ago.

Any attorney is going to want to see the orders in place before answering this question. With that said it is probably best to just wait to see what the court does before getting married. I can see a court having a rather large issue with you getting married prior to the order being dropped. If you have contact with him in violation of the order he could face criminal charges. Probably not the answer you want to hear but best to just wait.
