    You definitely want to get a local attorney. You may want to advance the court date as I assume that you cannot ship out if this is pending? You may not be able to get a date before May 24, but perhaps something sooner than July would be helpful. I have found that DAs and Judges are somewhat more accommodating when they are aware that the client is entering the army. A local attorney will know who to speak with and how to move the case through the system.

    Typically a reckless driving conviction will show up on a criminal history. But reporting of arrests and convictions for older cases was much spottier than it is today. So it is very possible that it is not on your criminal history. The best way to find out whether it is on your criminal history is to order a copy from The Department of Justice.     A 1203.4 motion is something you can do on your own or you can hire an attorney to handle it for you. Each county has their own procedure and requirements. I suggest you start by checking the County Court website for additional information on how to file the paperwork. An attorney, who handles these motions in Santa Barbara County can also advise you.
