Case Conclusion Date:December 15, 2008

Practice Area:Insurance

Outcome:Case settled by insurer

Description:My client was sued for damages following a pit bull attack which severely injured a toddler. My client's homeowner's policy had only a $500,000 policy limit which was not going to be enough to cover the catastrophic injuries (medical bills were over $900,000), so I was retained to review several commercial liability policies to determine whether they would cover the claim. I determined one of the commercial polices covered the claim and we demanded the insurer settle the case. After initially denying coverage, and after a year of negotiation, the insurer finally agreed to pay well over seven figures to settle the claims of the victims, and my client paid nothing.
