Insurance policies are complex documents that even experienced attorneys often have difficulty understanding. Auto insurance policies include the obligation of the insurer to provide an attorney to defend you in a covered lawsuit. If your insurance company said "they will handle it," they probably will, but you need to follow up with them to make sure they have hired an attorney to defend you and you need to follow up with that attorney as well, immediately.
