My decision to practice law was motivated by the desire to (1) help and defend people whose rights have been violated; (2) oppose the abuse of power; and (3) hold abusers of power to account.
I am especially interested in police misconduct cases. I also accept cases in criminal defense and plaintiff's side employment law (e.g., employment discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination).
Law is my second career. I previously
taught Religious Studies at U.C. Berkeley and, before that, Oxford
University. I have published books and articles in this field.
I was born and raised in Britain. I moved to California in 1992 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000.
I am hardworking, smart, and effective. Above all, I am totally committed to my clients.
