Jaclyn is an Associate Attorney at McDowall Cotter, APC. Her primary focus involves trust and estate administration and counseling individuals, families, trustees, corporations and limited liability companies in legal matters pertaining to Estate Planning and wealth preservation. Jaclyn also counsels small businesses regarding employment law, business succession planning, formation and organization.
Jaclyn received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology – Organizational Studies, focusing on political, social and economic organizations that comprise modern society. She later earned her Juris Doctorate degree and Legal Writing Concentration Certificate from Whittier College School of Law. Jaclyn was a recipient of an Academic Scholarship upon entering law school and the Dean’s Merit Scholarship in her second and third year of law school. She also received two CALI Excellence for the Future Awards for Legal Writing II and Aviation Law. During this time, Jaclyn was a member of the Whittier Law School Law Review. She also participated in the Street Law Program in Orange County, California, teaching juvenile delinquents and inner-city youth about law to heighten awareness of legal issues among high school level youth. In her last year, Jaclyn worked as a legal intern with the San Mateo County Superior Court, Family Law Facilitators, performing legal research for the family court judges and attorneys, drafting orders and assisting attorneys with document review.
Jaclyn serves as Secretary of the San Mateo County Bar Association, Barrister’s Section, an organization of new lawyers committed to professional growth, advocating for its members and actively participating in local community outreach programs. She is also an active participant in the San Mateo County Bar Association Estate Planning and Probate Section. Jaclyn is a member of the State Bar of California.
Jaclyn was admitted to practice in the State of California in 2009.
In addition to her practice of law, Jaclyn shares her time with her husband, Blair, and new baby boy, Nico. She enjoys being outdoors and is active in Pilates, yoga and cycling. She enjoys traveling and has studied abroad in Italy at the Universita’ per Stranieri in Siena, Italy and Toulouse, France at the University of Toulouse. In addition to her native English, she speaks conversational Russian and Italian.
