Description: A bicyclist suffered brain injuries when he hit the base of a reflector pole riding while riding on the state highway. The State of Hawaii placed reflector poles in a dangerous location and did not properly maintain the poles. The judge awarded the plaintiff more than $2 million dollars. Also, the bicycist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The helmet broke into several pieces. Prior to trial, we entered into a confidential settlement with the helmet and the pole manufacturers.
