The insurance company offered only $500 for my son's injury. Should I get a Lawyer? Can I get more money?

There is no rush to resolve or settle this type of claim. If your son is a minor he has two years beyond his eighteenth birthday to file a formal lawsuit in the proper court. A lawyer and or lawsuit should not be necessary here. My point is to make sure there truly is no ongoing injury or scar that develops. If there is a scar, take a quality photograph and send it to the insurance company. At this point your $3,000 demand is high but not unreasonable. I would suggest you continue working...
