  • Connor v. McAdams

    Practice Area:
    Personal Injury
    Outcome:
    Settlement
    Description:
Ms. Connor was struck from the rear while riding her bicycle with her fiance in Santa Barbara. The impact propelled Ms. Connor approximately 70 feet in the air before landing "head first" in the street. The defendant driver then fled the scene, and did not report the incident or contact the Santa Barbara Police Dept until the following morning. As a result of the accident, Ms. Connor sustained serious injuries, including several fractures to her neck, back and collar bone, as well as occlusion of her vertebral arteries bilaterally. She underwent emergency surgery to place a stent in the right vertebral artery (though the left remains occluded since it was damaged beyond repair), and fusion of the C5 and C6 vertebrae. Our firm was able to get a settlement that included the defendant's $1 Million policy, plus a confidential personal contribution.

    Personal Injury

    Nov 11, 2009
    Outcome:
    Settlement
    Description:
Brianna, then only 12 years old, was a passenger in a vehicle struck by another. Both she and her brother were injured in the accident, as was her father who was driving. Brianna sustained facial lacerations that required 102 sutures. The case was not filed at or near the time of the accident, as the plaintiffs' mother beleived that the matter was pending with the insurance carrier. Brianna's mother then brought the case to us on the eve of the 2-year statute running. We were able to file the action in a timely manner, and ultimately obtain settlements for both Brianna and her brother.
