    Outcome:
    Published decision.

This case involved an issue about whether there was a duty by the CDE to provide educational funding to an extremely gifted child. While the court ultimately found no duty to provide funding, it did conclude, in a published decision, that a parent/child could directly bring a court challenge to local decisions by seeking declaratory relief against the California Department of Education. This will provide a solid foundation for future challenges to local school site conduct and will allow an expedited declaratory relief process for future cases. Our office has now been able to cite to this opinion in other pending cases.
