  • I got stupidly mad at a friend and put a knife into his $250.00 tire-have no issue paying for it but he filled police report-

was at work ,was super stressed out and was being a idiot-- no alcohol was involved- --just don't know what to do--may be quitting that job -just need advise about what to do now

    Seth’s Answer

You need to hire an attorney for the investigation phase. You committed misdemeanor vandalism. They will likely file this case in Santa Clarita (Newhall) Court as a misdemeanor. Contact a criminal defense attorney.

  • I was given a petty theft misdemeanor for shoplifting. I haven't gone to court yet. How could i join the diversion program?

I have a clean record, this is my first offense.

    Seth’s Answer

Your attorney must negotiate for the Diversion Program. It is not automatic in LA County like in Northern California. Many factors include how many prior convictions you have, the dollar amount of this offense and evidence of your good moral character. You should contact a criminal defense attorney to help you with your case.

  • I have an arrest warrant for not finishing my 52 week domestic violence classes, what can i do?

I want to avoid jail time, i had about 5 classes left to finish, what can I do to avoid going to jail? i also believe i have another warrant for an unpaid traffic ticket.

    Seth’s Answer

You need to hire an attorney to appear with you. An attorney familiar with Pasadena Court would be helpful. The traffic ticket is not as serious as the DV classes. If this is a Pasadena City Attorney case, they take these very seriously.

  • I havent gotten to court but i am being charged with a 503 felony charge for stealing. i have no criminal record.

is there any way i can stay out of jail and get probation

    Seth’s Answer

You haven't posted enough facts for a professional opinion as to whether or not you have a high likelihood of avoiding jail time. If this incident occurred in Valencia, the felony matter will be heard in San Fernando Court, one of the toughest courts in LA County. You should contact an experienced criminal defense attorney to present your case.

    Seth’s Answer

In California, you can hire an attorney for a misdemeanor case and not have to appear in court. Many attorneys take payments. I am currently handling the exact same case for another college student who was cited at the Coachella Music Festival. Give any one of us a call to discuss your matter.

  • Appealing a misdemeanor conviction.

how do I obtain a public defender for an appeal

    Seth’s Answer

There is paperwork for you to file; A Notice of Appeal with the Court which heard your trial. http://www.courts.ca.gov/documents/cr132.pdf. Let the Court know you are indigent.
