I have legal custody of my grandson. I filed for child support on the dad; now he wants custody... he's never met the 5 y.o. boy

Asked by a user in La Plata, NM - about 3 years ago.

It is likely that he may be able to obtain some visitation rights, but very unlikely that the court would order any change in custody, given your history and relationship with the child.

Do I need permission by my spouse to take my child out of the country if we are legally separated and in the process of divorce?

Asked by a user in New York, NY - almost 3 years ago.

Generally yes, but it depends on what the judgment from your legal separation states regarding this issue. There are some automatic restraining orders that come into effect when a divorce is filed, including orders to not remove the child/children. Be sure to check your previous agreement and current orders.
