    It is not legal. Is this a pattern or did only happen twice and only to you? If it is a pattern you should look into hiring an employment lawyer.

    Looks like you may have a wage and hour case and potentially more. You are entitled to overtime pay and meal and rest breaks if you are a non-exempt employee. You should contact an aggressive and experienced employment lawyer who represents employees immediately.

    Just to add re on the defamation suggestion. Those are very hard cases to prove and most lawyers will not take those cases on contingency.

    The prior post is right. Under AB 1825 employers with 50 or more employees are required to provide their managers with harassment and discrimination training. The other posts are wrong.

    One other thing I would clarify to the previous answer. A non-exempt employee (in most cases) is entitled to one 10 minute break for every 4 hours of work OR MAJOR FRACTION THEREOF. So if you work 6 1/2 hours you are still entitled to two 10 minute rest breaks. Rest breaks are paid.
