Work training, should employer pay for days not at work due to training

Asked by a user in New Braunfels, TX - over 2 years ago.

Generally, time spent commuting from home to work is not work time. Time spent traveling out of town during normal work hours is considered work time and employees must be paid for this travel time. You can contact the closest Department of Labor office or a private attorney to address this issue.

Is my employer violating labor laws

Asked by a user in Providence, RI - over 2 years ago.

To determine the number of overtime hours and for the calculation of overtime hours, each workweek stands on its own. The wages earned on October 30th should be paid on the next pay check for the preceeding pay period. In some cases, deferring wage payment may result in violation of the Federal minimum wage and overtime laws.
