Can I receive a portion of my husband's military retirement NOW to help me get on my feet?

Asked by a user in Killeen, TX - about 2 years ago.

The military plan itself determines whether you can receive anything immediately. You will need to look at this closely. However, you may want to speak to an attorney about other options available to give you some support while you get back on your feet. There may be other ways to help you.

What do they do in a motion for judge to confer with children?

Asked by a user in Dallas, TX - over 1 year ago.

A lot of what happens depends on the age of the children. The Judge will usually ask the children how things are going with each parent. The Judge will not allow the children to select the parent they live with but will only try to gather information as to the reasons behind any choice they do make. The Judge will specifically be looking for the best interests of the children and not just their wishes.

How can i get my ex to pay his back child support?

Asked by a user in Houston, TX - almost 2 years ago.

You may want to contact the Harris County Domestic Relations Office. They can be faster than the Attorney General and I believe fees are on a sliding scale.

Can my husband continue with the divorce without my signature if I filed a denial?

Asked by a user in Mckinney, TX - over 1 year ago.

Normally, notice is required for all court settings. She should not be able to proceed without your signature if she cannot show that you had notice. However, you should remain in close contact with the Court to ensure that nothing is entered without your knowledge or consent.

My husband lives in SanAntonio and I live in Houston, I was told it will take 2 mo., how can I speed up the process??

Asked by a user in Houston, TX - about 2 years ago.

A divorce takes a minimum of 60 days and there is no way to shorten that time period. The time beings to run from the date you file the petition for divorce and the first date you can finalize is the 61st day after that.
