Kristi Blake is a Texas criminal defense attorney and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys. With 29 years of legal experience, Ms. Blake has served as a judge, prosecutor, government attorney, and criminal defense lawyer. She represents clients in Travis County and surrounding Central Texas counties, including Williamson, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Blanco, and Burnet.
Before joining Michael & Associates, Ms. Blake served as an Assistant City Attorney, Assistant Criminal District Attorney, Chief Felony Prosecutor, and Justice of the Peace. As a prosecutor, she handled serious felony cases, including capital murder prosecutions. As a judge, she presided over misdemeanor cases and other matters within the jurisdiction of the Justice Court. She also has years of experience defending individuals charged with crimes in Texas state and federal courts.
Her experience on multiple sides of the criminal justice system provides valuable insight into how cases are investigated, charged, evaluated, and resolved. Ms. Blake understands how prosecutors build criminal cases, how judges assess evidence and legal arguments, and how defense attorneys can challenge weaknesses in the government’s case. She applies that perspective when representing clients accused of misdemeanor and felony offenses.
Ms. Blake earned her undergraduate degree from West Texas A&M University and her Juris Doctor, with honors, from the University of Tulsa College of Law. She continued her legal education at the University of Houston Law Center, where she earned a Master of Laws in Health Law.
Raised on a wheat and corn farm in the Texas Panhandle, Ms. Blake is a ninth-generation Texan who developed an early appreciation for hard work, honesty, and perseverance. Those values continue to guide her approach to criminal defense. Known for her tenacity and authenticity in the courtroom, she helps clients understand the allegations against them, evaluate their legal options, and make informed decisions about their defense.
About Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys
Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys is a criminal defense firm with a unique model: the high-touch, personalized attention of a boutique firm, backed by the resources and collective experience of a 40+ lawyer defense team.
Every client is assigned a dedicated Senior Trial Attorney who owns the defense from intake through resolution. That attorney focuses on a specific county and court — practicing there regularly and knowing the judges, the prosecutors, and the local tendencies that shape outcomes. Cases are not rotated, reassigned, or passed to junior attorneys (the firm doesn't employ any).
Behind that lead attorney is a team of forty criminal-defense lawyers with more than 1,000 jury trials between them, including attorneys Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, ten Super Lawyers honorees, ACS-CHAL Forensic DWI Lawyer-Scientists, former prosecutors, former judges, and former law-enforcement professionals, including a former FBI agent.
That structure gives clients the 40-on-1 advantage: one senior lawyer leading your case, backed by the collective knowledge of 40+ criminal-defense attorneys. It means the prosecutor is not up against one lawyer — they're up against a brain trust.
