I felt that she did not properly inform us of upcoming court appearances. I felt she did not represent us with our best interests in mind. She seemed to be less than interested in fighting for our rights and more interested in going through the motions to get before the judge and let the judge make a decision without all the facts. We were notified the day before court that we would be appearing and for more than we were previously told. She spent more time after the court appearance discussing the decision with the opposing party than she did with us (the clients).

Nadia Tameka Gilkes’s response: “It is very difficult to respond to an anonymous complaint. However, I will say that I communicate with my clients on a weekly basis and am always accessible via phone or email. All filed documents are emailed to clients immediately so that they have their complete file at their fingertips. When a court date is set I communicate that immediately and request that clients come in to my office in the week prior to trial so that we can properly prepare. While at court, there are instances when a Judge may ask to meet with the attorneys outside of the presence of the clients, or the attorneys may conference among themselves to ensure we are on the same page regarding the judge's rulings, future court dates, and what needs to be drafted in the final orders. This is standard procedure and does not mean that we are ignoring the clients or do not have their best interests at heart. Before clients sign any final orders I go through every page with them to make sure they understand the judge's ruling and what is outlined in the order. I am always happy to answer any questions and make sure my clients have a complete understanding prior to finalizing any legal matter.”
