Dallas County filed a motion to adjudicate my client for violating the terms of his deferred adjudication. The state sought to send him to prison for the full term of his offense, 2-20 years on each charge pending. Through a challenge to the State's actions in pursuing my client after his probation term ended, I successfully argued that the court no longer had jurisdiction over my client and therefore he couldn't be sent to prison. The charges were dismissed and my client was released from custody with no convictions on his record from the original offense.
