About Me

When I was a young boy, I watched Perry Mason and decided I wanted to be a trial lawyer.  In college, I studied political science, psychology, and history thinking it would help me be a great lawyer.  After law school, I immediately sought the courtroom by working as a prosecutor for Ellis county so I could be in the courtroom everyday.  After 2 years, I worked for insurance companies defending personal injury claims for 5 years so that I could learn civil trial law and then "hang my own shingle".  As a result of this work, I was able to present about 300 cases to judges and juries and hone my craft.  Before leaving insurance work in 1990, I applied for and passed the all day written test and peer review of lawyers and judges to become a board certified specialist in injury trial law.  In 1991, the first year in private practice, I applied for and passed the all day written test and peer review of lawyers and judges to become board certified in civil trial law.  Every 5 years, my qualifications for board certification is reviewed by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization for which I must report to the Board the names of mulitple lawyers and judges with whom I have recently worked for review.

On a more personal side, I have played handball since 18 (not so much in the last couple of years) riding horses, water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, and trail riding in my UTV.  You can bet that if I'm not inside working my craft that I'm outside enjoying life.
