Heather Ann Badgett Schaefer

I hired Ms. Schaefer for a criminal defense. She was often late to my scheduled court dates. At the time, I was out of state and had to travel 9 hours to TX in order to be present for those dates but I was still on time. On one of my court dates, she was supposed to arrange it so I did not have to... be present (she would appear in my stead). I thought everything was fine, that is until after I checked the court's website to find I had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. I basically badgered her to take care of this warrant, called her office, left messages, sent e-mails to no avail. About 2 months later I was arrested at my home for something that she was supposed to have clearly taken care of. It was finally taken care of but only after I terminated her. It was easily taken care of only after I hired another attorney. I really don't believe she ever had my best interest at heart and I feel I was very poorly represented by her. What sickens me the most is I reported this to the TX state bar and nothing was ever done about it. I see that in 2008 however, she finally does have a disciplinary history through the TX Bar association though I don't know what this stems from. If you have a criminal matter, I strongly urge you to find another attorney. I can't speak for any other areas of law that she practices but I would certainly find someone else.
