Stephen L. Teichler

Mr. Stephen Teichler was the nicest, kindest man when I became the replacement secretary after his long-time secretary went on maternity leave. I was barely 19 and right out of high school. My job was 2nd Floor receptionist/floater secretary. He not only remained patient and understanding that I w...as new to the legal environment and that I was juggling working for him and another Partner in the firm who was much harder on me. The entire 6 years I worked for the law firm ultimately working for that said Partner, Mr. Teichler never failed to continue his kindness and professionalism and acknowledge me on every level of my growth through the years. It's been some 30 years later, and I am often heard quoting many of his hysterically funny one liner's. With the tense environment of a litigation secretary in Washington D.C. trying to make filings on time and again juggling my Partner and his associates working on his many cases, having Mr. Teichler walk by with his personality always broke the tension and helped brighten everyone especially my day. He wasn't just fun and games however, Mr. Teichler churned out dozens of briefs himself and I often did overtime work for him. Unlike some litigators Mr. Teichler never even raised his voiced to my knowledge and I worked for him, and his office and my Partner's office were together, and the secretaries shared a desk, so I saw Mr. Teichler from the start of my career as a legal secretary to the end when I went on maternity leave, practically daily and throughout the day. He just seemed to never have a bad day if he did, he never took it out on the staff. I carried that with me into becoming a mother ultimately of two boys!! I cannot express how his mentoring me changed me.
