Larry Dale Ward

Mr. Ward’s legal practice at Hinkle Elkouri focuses primarily on business, financing, and real estate transactions. Dale’s real estate practice includes the representation of real estate investors and developers in all aspects of their business, including construction, leasing, financing, title, acquisitions, and sales. Dale’s real estate clients own and operate many types of properties, including hotels, shopping centers, self storage facilities, distribution warehouses, health clubs, restaurants, office buildings, and industrial facilities.

Dale’s business transactions include asset and stock purchase and sales, as well as corporate mergers, reorganizations and consolidations. The industries in which Dale has helped transact businesses include franchises and distributorships, aerospace and other types of manufacturing businesses, bank mergers, health clubs, car dealerships, retail businesses, and  professional office practices such as engineering companies and dentist and physician practices. The single largest stock transaction that Dale has closed for a client was in excess of $120 million.  In addition to assisting his clients with their business transactions, Dale also provides general legal advice to many of his clients on a continuing basis, including questions pertaining to franchise rights, employee matters, taxes and financings.

Dale has experience in many different types of financing transactions, including, without limitation, construction loans, permanent or take-out loans, securitized loans, industrial revenue bonds, mezzanine financing and Regulation D offerings. The largest single financing that Dale has closed for a client was in excess of $500 million. Dale primarily represents borrowers in connection with the financings; however, he does routinely represent commercial lenders and venture capital companies.

Dale joined Hinkle Elkouri in 1990 after his graduation from Washburn University School of Law.  He became a partner in the firm in 1996 and served as a Co-Managing Director for the firm from 2001 to 2007.

Prior to enrolling at Washburn University School of Law, Dale served as the Administrative Assistant to the City Manager, St. Petersburg, Florida, the Budget Director and later the Assistant City Manager of Largo, Florida and the City Administrator of Lindsborg, Kansas. While at Washburn Dale wrote for the Washburn Law Journal and had his Comment published (see below).  Dale served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Washburn Law Journal during the 1989-1990 school year. While at Washburn, Dale was selected to be on the Dean’s Interview Team and received numerous awards and scholarships including the Alumni Merit Scholarship, the Finnup Trust Scholarship, the American Counsel Association (10th Circuit) Scholarship and the Washburn Law Journal Scholarship. During law school Dale received numerous American Jurisprudence Awards and was a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Dale enjoys the practice of law as it has allowed him to build personal and lasting friendships with many of his clients.
