Ann Gottberg Soderberg

Ann represented me in '10 divorce. She was up front with me about how she conducts herself and if I was looking to get even she will recommend another lawyer. That was perfect for me because I wanted what was fair. She was honest with me, to the point, zero problems with communicating between myself... and her office, billing was accurate, and I couldn't be more satisfied. I have no problem recommending her.

A number of years ago Ann represented me in a divorce/child custody case. This is never the best of circumstances, but it was made intolerable by her staggering incompetance. She forgot to tell me about a custody hearing – twice. If my ex-husband hadn't let it slip on the phone (assuming, of cour...se, that I knew about it) , I would've missed the hearing and possibly lost custody. I should have fired her after the first instance — but after hearing her apologies and hearing how out of character this was for her, I retained her. When it happened the second time, I was done. Add to that the fact that she would spend a substantial part of our office time talking about her family, and then bill me for the time. When I got my first bill, I was stunned — during our next office visit when she began talking on about her family, I told her that she was free to talk about it, but I was keeping track of the time spent on my particular case and I was NOT paying for the time she reminisced – she immediately got down to business. I think there are a lot of good attorneys out there – she is not one of them.

I feel that I was over billed for time. She changed law offices in the middle of my case and was hard to get a hold of at times. I was still being billed after I told her I no longer needed her services. I even received bills nearly a year after I told her this. I also feel that she could have done a... better job explaining how the motion for information works and the amount of time it takes to actually get in front of a judge for divorce proceedings.
