About me

Dave Lewin is the founder of Lewin Law Group, a Chicago-based law firm with a national practice representing contractors, developers, and insurers.

The majority of his work involves defense of construction liability litigation, related insurance coverage issues, and transactional work for owners, contractors, subs, and condo associations. Locally, he has represented well known general contractors as well as specialty sub-contractors. Nationally, he has assisted self-insureds respond to tenders of defense.

He currently is Chair the Illinois Assocation of Defense Trial Counsel's Insurance Coverage Section.

He have spoken on insurance coverage topics at several seminars. A partial listing is found at

He has also written numerous articles on risk shifting, the most recent is a discussion of the "targeted tender" rule in Illinois.

The current issue of the IDC Quarterly features a lengthy Monograph by Dave Lewin discussing how insurers can effectively preserve coverage defenses.

In addition, he is active with a number of Chicago neighborhood organizations, routinely meets with local elected officials to discuss matters of concern, and has provided testimony before the Chicago Planning Commission.
