Failed to deliver services as promised

I hired Mansoor in Oct 2014 and paid a retainer of $2500. After numerous attempts to contact him to inquire about progress on the case ( Nov, Dec, January), I terminated our relationship and had to hire another law firm to help facilitate the release of my file. Mansoor charged me for services he did... not perform and although I received a refund for a portion of the retainer, he kept $975 allegedly for drafting a petition but to this date, 9 months later, I am still to receive any proof of any work he's done. I requested a copy of my file be mailed to me but after numerous requests even sent by my lawyer, Mansoor refuses to release the file under pretext that I should call his office and arrange to pick up the file in person. However, any phone calls made end up in voicemail and no one calls me back. I truly believe that if Mansoor did the work he charged me for and has such records, he would've sent me a copy when I first asked for it, 6 mo ago. The reason he refuses to give me a copy is that he did not do any work and has no records to release. My next step is to sue him for the $975 he kept from the retainer and for the trouble, misrepresentation and delays he has caused me with my case as well as to report him to the attorney disciplinary review

Lack of ethical obligation to client

Attorney Khan was suppose to amend my bankruptcy petition which he did but failed to include my certificate for financial responsibility class. This caused the bankruptcy to be closed without discharge which he stated he would take care of it. This has been since November of 2013 and haven't had any ...communication with him because he refused to return my phone calls or messages to the point.. He has shown breach of duty and ethical obligation to his client.

This particularly client had originally filed a pro se Chapter 7 Bankruptcy petition, but the bankruptcy trustee continued the 341 meeting of creditors a total of 3 times because the client was unable to prove that his disposable income was below the level necessary for the presumption of abuse not to arise. I agreed to amend his petition so that the presumption would not arise, and I agreed to do this on a payment plan. The total amount I charged was $995 for attorney's fees, along with the $30 filing fee to amend his schedules, and $33 to run his credit report and include all of his creditors in his amended petition, for a total of $1,058. He made partial payment of $750 prior to my filing his amended petition. The trustee then approved his petition, filed his trustee's report, and the bankruptcy was closed without discharge the following day (as it had been open for several months at that point). When I informed the client that there would be a filing fee of $260 to reopen the bankruptcy in order to file the certificate of completion of the post-filing financial management course, the client expected me to cover that cost myself, draft the motion to reopen at no additional attorney's fees, while still having an outstanding balance of $308. When I informed him that I needed a minimum of the filing fee, he did not respond, but instead sent me several threatening messages and filed a complaint with the ARDC, which the ARDC dropped immediately after I responded to them. It is truly unfortunate that a client who I helped by having his Chapter 7 get approved, which he was unable to do without my assistance, while simultaneously not being in paid in full, would then post a negative review of me online. Having said that, I wish him the best going forward.
