Jameika Williams Mangum, an Attorney, was born in Los Angeles, California. In 2010, Mangum started The Mangum Law Firm, LLC in a suburb outside of Chicago, IL. Mangum's recent jury trial win has dubbed her “A Force to be Reckoned With.” Mangum's client was charged with a Class 4 Felony of Attempting to Board a Commercial Aircraft with a Loaded Weapon. Mangum's client had a loaded .22 gun in his carry-on bag at O'Hare International Airport. As Cook County Sheriffs lined the courtroom doors, jurors returned a verdict in her client's favor, “Not Guilty.” Mangum has appeared on television shows including but not limited to: Larry King Live, Dateline NBC, The Early Show, and more.
Mangum currently writes a column entitled The Mangum Legal Minute for the Electronic Urban Report (www.eurweb.com), a popular news and entertainment website.
In college, Mangum interned for King World Productions, Inc. Mangum assisted on-air talent for shows such as: Inside Edition and American Journal.
Jameika Williams Mangum received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School of Communication. She earned an Intellectual Property Certificate and Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School.
During law school, Mangum was a volunteer law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Mangum assisted attorneys in the High Tech Crimes Unit. It was during her time at the Los Angeles D.A.'s Office, that Mangum knew she would become a Prosecutor.
In 2007, Ms. Mangum worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of New Mexico. Ms. Mangum prosecuted misdemeanors including: Theft , DUI, and Domestic Violence for the State of New Mexico.
As a former Assistant State’s Attorney (McHenry County, IL), Mangum handled traffic matters including but not limited to Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI) cases, and Statutory Summary Suspension (SSS) Hearings. Additionally, Ms. Mangum handled all misdemeanors, and all Domestic Violence cases including Orders of Protection.
