Karen Ruth Hansen

Karen R. Hansen is a Minnesota attorney with more than 25 years of experience in energy, utility, environmental, and climate matters. As founder of Future Flourish Legal PLLC, she advises Minnesota landowners and family farms, businesses, developers, utilities, and clean-energy participants on renewable-energy agreements, project due diligence, climate and ESG disclosures, sustainability claims, and carbon-accounting governance.

Before founding the firm, Karen held senior energy and environmental roles with major electric utilities, where she worked across legal requirements, utility planning, carbon accounting, clean-energy strategy, and implementation. This combination allows her to identify not only what an agreement or standard says, but how it is likely to operate in practice and where legal, commercial, technical, and evidentiary risks may arise.
