  • Informal Probate Inventory form

When filling out form PR-1811 for Inventory of Infomal Probate, where can I find what exactly needs to be listed for the inventory? For example, does someone's car, camper, boat, lawn mower, personal items in home have to be listed? What is consi...

    Matthew’s Answer

All of the decedent's property will have to be listed on the inventory unless the property may be distributed to beneficiaries outside of the probate (i.e. paid on death bank accounts, life insurance proceeds paid directly to a beneficiary, etc.). The listing of personal property is the type of question that should be directed to a knowledgeable local attorney. Attorney will have experience with the local registrar in probate and will have a better capacity to collect the necessary information to fully respond to this question.

Remember, you will also have to file a final account and may have to file personal and estate income tax returns. If this is your first time handling an estate, you are likely to have many questions through the process. You are a fidcuiary that may be personally responsible for any mishandled assets.
