Regrettably, divorce is a highly volatile and emotionally gut wrenching time of one’s life. After a long-term marriage, not only do you stand to lose half of everything that you have worked so hard to accumulate financially in a marital estate, but may also have a continuing support obligation for an ex-spouse where there is a wide disparity in income levels. Good lawyers sometimes have to deliver “bad news” that clients sometimes are not receptive to hearing. However, it would be a disservice to a client to do anything otherwise. “False promises” do not serve ultimately the best interests of a client. I wish this former client nothing but the very best wherever the next chapter in their life takes them.
