I co-signed a student loan for my (then) wife. The divorce states she is responsible for all student loans. Where do I stand.

I had a similar matter where the former spouse discharged the obligation in bankruptcy and Sallie Mae reissued the debt in the name of the co-signer only. Previous posts are correct that your remedies are to return to family court. You should review your Marital Settlement Agreement to see if there is language regarding either parties failure to pay the debt and or bankruptcy, and if so what your remedies are. Is an 18 still considered a minor if he is still in high school? I want to drop him from my health insurance.

Just like child support, the obligation to maintain insurance stops at age 18, but is extended until high school graduation (or enrollment in a GED program.) The latest you can be subject to this obligation is age 19, unless your agreement calls for you to maintain it post-emancipation. The Court can enforce a contract between you and your ex-spouse, even if it cannot order it.
