The case involved failing to prescribe and administer antibiotics when x-rays were suspicious for necrotizing enterocolitis along with other signs and symptoms consistent with NEC. As a consequence of the delay in treatment, the baby suffered from severe neurological deficits including developmental delays, cerebral palsy and cortical blindness.
