•Heller v Servant Publications US Dist Ct ED Mich 1982

Robert F. Magill Jr.

Case Conclusion Date: January 1, 1982

Practice Area: Commercial

Outcome: Victory for my client; case was dismissed

Description: My non-profit religious publisher, Servant, was sued over its book, "Verdict On The Shroud." When the state court judge improperly issued an injunction to prevent publication, I removed the case to federal court and had the injunction set aside by Judge Horace Gilmore. When another federal judge tried to get my client to settle the case by paying money to the defendants, I counterclaimed against the defendants since it appeared they were doing their own book on the Shroud and wanted to compete by tarnishing our book, which was the first one on the Shroud of Turin Research Project. Defendants promptly folded their tent and agreed to drop the case if I would drop the counterclaim.
