    Description:
    The petitioner had previously submitted a petition on behalf of his immediate relative, which was denied due to the lack of existence of a contemporaneously filed birth certificate to prove the relationship. I assisted the client with gathering the necessary evidence to prove the existence of the relationship without a contemporaneously birth certificate and refiled the petition. The petition was approved and an IV was later issued.

    The Respondent was a resident with criminal convictions rendering him removable from the United States. In addition, the case presented a number of other factors that severely weakened his case. I worked with the Respondent and the Respondent's family to build a case centered around the Respondent's positive factors and minimize the negative factors. The Immigration Judge agreed and granted Cancellation of Removal.

    The Respodent was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement following ICE's discovery of a conviction that rendered the Respondent removable from the United States. ICE officers claimed that the Respodent was subject to mandatory detention. Sucessfully argued against manadatory detention and in favor of a very low bond.
