About me

I urge you to go to for more detailed information.

In my law practice, plea bargains are a last resort, not a first impulse.  I am not at all reluctant to seek acquittal or dismissal of charges for guilty people, innocent people, and those who are somewhere in-between. If I take a case, I fight to win.

I have met only one person who's case I would not want.  He was a predatory molester.  His modus operandi was to befriend single mothers with young girls.  He is not bothering girls anymore.

Robbers, forgers, dealers, smugglers, etc. will probably get caught again if they don't change their ways.  I am always happy to give them another chance.

Frightened people sometimes seek comfort in a lawyer who they think is liked by prosecutors and police officers.  Some like me and some don't.  I am not very concerned about that.  I care more about their respect.  To me, criminal defense is  building the strongest defense possible, and only then, perhaps, negotiating from a position of strength; and possibly compromising if victory is uncertain and my client wants to avoid  trial.

Collecting retainers and telling people where to sign the plea agreements is probably a more lucrative business model, but I prefer to live my life with honor and integrity.  It usually doesn't take me long to get an idea of what life has been like for my clients, and to start to really care about them.  Getting them out of trouble, or at least lightening the blow, is one of the rewards I treasure in my law practice.

I am a sole practitioner, raising my 11-year-old son by myself (he spends time with his mother and grandparents whenever they want), helping clients, and playing music - guitar and piano - when I have time.  I also enjoy the time I get to spend with friends and my three grown children when they are in town.  Life is good.

I give free advice to people who ask for it.  Some end up hiring me and some have to stay with the public defender.  If you are ever unsure and want a second opinion, you are welcome to call me.  I am here to help.
