Very poor laywer

Had the misfortune to hire David Schalk as representative in a criminal case several years ago. It was very difficult to get in touch with him before trial to discuss my case. When it came time for the trial he was abysmal as an attorney. First off, he would show up with his young son, who sat in ...the back of the courtroom being disruptive for the entire multi-day trial. Having to sit and watch judge, prosecutor and jury glare at the disruptive child, then your attorney, does not inspire a positive feeling. His personal appearance was also often disheveled and unprofessional. When it comes to actual legal representation, it often seemed as if he were either lost in following the proceedings or unaware of the facts of the case. The judge was often asking him for clarifications when he misspoke the basic names and events of the case. At one point he even chased a prosecution witness out of the courtroom during trial, after a fruitless cross-examination. Again his behavior came across as very unprofessional, and his knowledge of trial law came across as questionable. Finally, I understand that David Schalk has since this time been arrested and convicted of crimes in connection with an attempt to purchase drugs in order to somehow represent his client in a drug case, and on top of his criminal penalties he has been sanctioned by the Indiana Judiciary Commission. Given my personal experiences with this lawyer, what I've seen of him since then, and the criminal charges he's been convicted of, I could not in good conscience recommend anyone hire David Schalk for any legal representation whatsoever.

Recommendation for David Schalk

It is my immense pleasure to recommend attorney David Schalk. I hired Mr. Schalk to represent me in a criminal case in May of 2010. I found Mr. Schalk to be very bright and very knowledgeable about the law. He has kept me updated about the case at all times and handled my case with exceptional dilige...nce. His meticulous manner and knowledge about my rights and law is very impressive. I have strong confidence in his abilities as a first rate attorney and I take pride in recommending him for your legal work and I strongly recommend Mr. Schalk to help you with your legal work without reservation.
