Any time you are accused of a crime you should hire an attorney. The consequences are to high. Just because they were paid does not mean criminal liability did not attach. While you may think she is factually ok, she may still be legally guilty. The prosecutor generally needs to prove intent. If you do not have a lawyer, it is much easier to show intent. An attorney has the ability to shut down the intent element and keep you from being found guilty.

It completely depends on the search. There is a good chance nothing will show up but it also depends on the seriousness of the crime. If it is a serious crime, it is likely there is a nationwide warrant. If the warrant did not show locally, I doubt it will show at all.

There is a motion often called a 60(B). File this saying there was a mistake in the procedings. You allege that paternity has not been established and request a DNA test.
